Sealed, Expunged & Restricted
Colorado generally seals adult criminal records and expunges juvenile delinquency records. Sealing blocks ordinary public access but does not vacate a conviction or erase access for every authorized justice agency. Automatic-sealing rules may apply to some records, while other cases require a petition and waiting period.
Juvenile files, court-sealed arrests, protected victim data, and active investigative material are not ordinary public releases. CBI public history also excludes juvenile arrests at age seventeen or younger unless handled as an adult, traffic arrests at age fifteen or younger, and sealed arrests. The court that handled the case is the best place to confirm whether a Jefferson County file was sealed.
A missing public result should be read with care. The record might be sealed, outside the selected date range, held under a different name, or still waiting for an agency update. It might also belong to a city court or a federal court instead of Jefferson Combined Court. When reviewing your own history, compare the clerk's final order with the CBI entry. CBI accepts challenges when arrest data is wrong or incomplete, while the arresting agency must address errors in its own report.
